Position Summary…

The Senior Manager, Community Relations is an organized, detail driven individual with an interest in local community engagement, eager to join a highly respected team of experienced professionals serving one of the largest companies in the world.

Walmart’s Community Relations team is responsible for driving local engagement with stores, customers and community leaders with the goal of elevating our brand reputation and increasing meaningful connections that will continue to provide added value to the business.

The Senior Manager will see up close how the CR team conducts in-store activations that empower stores and clubs to increase and enhance community relationships through training; toolkits; newsletters; and event support. Additionally, the Senior Manager will have the opportunity to conduct regular training of Community Champions in urban, suburban and rural markets that empowers store associates to engage locally through a structured decision-making framework with resources and inspiration; cultivate relationships with local government officials and community leaders; identify local store opportunities for volunteerism and random acts of kindness; support social media training and outreach; and foster self-sufficiency on our overall approach to community engagement.

You’ll make an immediate impact by:

  • Driving the implementation of an engagement strategy to strengthen local relationships and further enhance Walmart’s reputation in US communities by developing and executing community outreach plans.
  • Training stores to engage in community activities thoughtfully, with a multi-functional team approach based on prioritized business needs and in compliance with company standards and legal requirements.
  • Overseeing the execution of local giving budgets by collaborating with department leadership to ensure goals and programs are aligned with corporate strategy; and providing recommendations for future budget allocation at local / regional level.
  • Localizing and extending the impact of Walmart national business efforts including: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; Health and Wellness; Opportunity; Sustainability; and Local Sourcing.
  • Providing advice and counsel on local strategies for responding to community-related opportunities and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent communication regarding presence in the community.
  • Embracing Walmart values that foster our culture and support Walmart’s commitment to communities, social justice, corporate social responsibility, and sustainability while maintaining and promoting the highest standards of integrity, ethics and compliance.
  • Modeling compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity; incorporating these concepts into the development and implementation of team; using the Open Door Policy; and demonstrating and assisting others with how to apply these in executing business processes and practices.

Minimum Qualifications…

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Political Science, Business, or related field and 3-5 years experience managing local community outreach and engagement.

As permitted by applicable law, provide evidence of full vaccination as defined by CDC guidelines OR secure approval of medical or religious accommodation for the vaccination mandate.

Preferred Qualifications…

5 years Community Relations, Public Relations, Public Affairs or related experience in a Fortune 500 company, NGO, or local stakeholder group.

Managerial experience running local campaign(s).

4 years corporate experience involving direct training or coalition building.

3 years of supervisory experience.

Travels domestically 60%-75% of the time each month to and from multiple facilities or work sites requiring consecutive overnight stays.

Primary Location…

Field Based within East Business Unit (EBU) or Southeast Business Unit (SEBU) and located near a major airport hub to facilitate ability to regularly travel.
