JOB SUMMARY

In 1998, PODS pioneered portable storage. Nearly 25 years later, we’ve completed close to 6 million initial deliveries and 1.3 million long-distance moves. And there are so many great stories to be told!

That’s why PODS’ Brand Reputation team is looking for a PR Specialist with a proven track record of planning and executing earned media opportunities – traditional and digital – to drive brand awareness and elevate consumers’ perception of our brand as a thought leader and authority in the moving and storage space. In addition, this individual must be a natural collaborator, as they’ll be working closely with internal groups and our PR agency to identify and share engaging stories about our customers, associates, company, partners, and industry.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive strategies to support the development and implementation of multi-channel public relations strategies
  • Identify engaging media opportunities to support the company’s strategic priorities and build trust amongst consumers
  • Build and manage extensive media list/press list/media contact list
  • Develop and manage a media matrix and tactical calendar with proactive pitching efforts
  • Draft and proofread media advisories, news releases, statements, and other PR-related content
  • Cultivated meaningful relationships with key editors, reporters, writers, producers, etc.
  • Pitch story ideas to respective media contacts
  • Manage online newsroom and enhance media kit assets
  • Implement a dashboard/tool to track quantity and quality of media coverage/mentions across all relevant channels
  • Oversee Wikipedia page and knowledge panels on Google, Bing, etc.
  • Develop a filing system for pitches, news releases, media statements, and other PR materials
  • Spearhead relationship with PR agency
  • Assist with crisis communications as needed
  • Coordinate media training with management and other key internal stakeholders
  • Communicate with internal and external partners
  • Perform general administrative duties, including invoice management and meeting scheduling
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Regular attendance and punctuality required

  • Typically reports to Management. Direct supervisor job title(s) typically include: Manager, Marketing
  • Job is NOT directly responsible for managing other full-time employees (e.g., hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management)

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • BA/BS or its equivalent required; degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or Marketing is preferred
  • 2 – 4 years of experience in corporate communications, internal communications, journalism/broadcasting, public relations, media relations, or in a related area
  • Prefer a candidate with client-side PR experience
  • Previous experience working at or supervising PR agencies preferred
  • Proficient with uploading, proofreading, and distributing news releases on PR Newswire, Business Wire, or other news wire services
  • Experience with media monitoring tools such as Cision or Meltwater a plus
  • Demonstrated strategic planning and execution
  • Exceptional attention to detail is required
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and project management skills are required
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage significant workloads and shifting priorities
  • Ability to effectively organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects at a time
  • Must be passionate about marketing, public relations, and media relations
  • Ability to quickly learn internal systems
  • Keeps abreast on emerging and relevant public relations and media relations trends
  • Possess math skills sufficient to perform required duties
  • Advanced experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
