Full Job Description
The Tampa Bay Builders Association (TBBA) is a professional organization serving the Tampa Bay area residential construction-related businesses in Hillsborough, Pasco, and Pinellas counties. These include builders, developers, suppliers, subcontractors, lending institutions, architectural and engineering firms, as well as other related businesses.
Reporting to the Membership and Programs Director, the Special Events and Communications Manager will provide oversite to all fundraising activities while specializing in special events. The ideal candidate will take the lead role in the strategic growth and development of non-dues revenue.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure all Special Events achieve/exceed revenue goals while managing event volunteer committees, teams, sponsors, and individuals.
- Lead the planning of ALL event logistics and serve as the staff manager on event day to provide an excellent experience for participants.
- Manage and recruit volunteer committees, sponsors, teams, and individual participants.
- Evaluate event results and prepare recommendations for future events to expand fundraising potential. Provide routine fundraising reports to Membership and Programs Director and Executive Vice President to evaluate the effectiveness of the Special Events programs.
- Assist in the evolution of existing communications strategy. Recommend techniques to improve the association’s public image and recruiting efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience
- Proven history of creating new and successful programs as well as expanding current programs/initiatives.
- Demonstrated success in external relationship management and volunteer recruitment.
- Proven ability to cultivate and steward relationships across a diverse population.
- Ability to work individually, collaboratively, and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
- Superb organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and proficiency in social & digital media.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license and can work nights as the event calendar demands.
- Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs. (event supplies).
- REQUIRED: Strong comfort with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, Powerpoint; Familiarity with updating websites, Social Media platforms, and Mailchimp (or equivalent).
