Special Projects Assistant (HOA) Community Associations/Collections Law
Downtown Tampa law firm seeks experienced Special Projects Assistant with our Community Associations/Collections Law practice. Candidate should be highly organized, detail oriented, motivated, reliable, proactive and a self-starting individual seeking to challenge him/herself and develop a career in a supportive, team oriented environment. The ideal candidate will possess a background in accounting (A/R), excellent communication, interpersonal skills, proofreading, typing and grammatical skills, be able to handle large volumes of work and will work well under tight and shifting deadlines. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Reading and understanding a ledger from the Association/Property Manager
- Sending initial demand letters to property owners, requiring you to calculate interest and late fees
- Researching public records relating to mortgages, claims of lien, property ownership, bankruptcy, etc.
- Recording claims of lien and sending notices of intent to foreclose
- Sending balance due letters when property owners short pay
- Preparing payoff/estoppel letters to both property owners and title companies
- Preparing a settlement agreement to include extended payment periods
- Preparing violation/mediation letters to property owners
- Preparing disbursement letters to clients
- Interacting with clients concerning current status of file(s)
- Interacting with debtors during the collection process
- Pulling Association’s declarations from public records and understanding the language as it relates to assessments/covenant violations, etc.
- Reading and understanding Florida Statutes 720 and 718 as they relate to collection of assessments and issues with covenant violations
- Navigating through time and billing system to gather all fees and costs
- Understanding profit and expense to revenue
- The ability to think logically and to be professional, while also being sensitive
- ATIDS (The Fund) real property search experience preferred, but not required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 – $65,000.00 per year

Experience:
- Law Firm or Community Associations: 4 years (Required)
