Tampa Bay area jobseekers looking for work in the grocery industry may find Sprouts Farmers Market’s impending arrival on the scene music to their ears. The Phoenix-based chain plans to open its first Florida location soon and is already advertising for people to build its local team.

The grocery chain’s Carrollwood store is going in at 15110 N. Dale Mabry Highway. While an official opening date hasn’t been announced, Sprouts has indicated the new store will begin serving customers sometime early next year.

Getting ready for that opening, the company has posted many positions for the Carrollwood store on its website. The available posts include full- and part-time opportunities. Available positions include cashiers, bakery clerks, receivers, scan coordinators, senior deli clerks and more. Management positions are also available, including department posts in the dairy, bakery and grocery.

Sprouts opened its first store in Arizona in 2002 and has since opened more than 200 stores across the country. Although not yet in the Florida market, the chain has 12 locations in the Atlanta area.

“Sprouts is the grocery shopping experience that makes healthy living easy and affordable,” the company’s website claims. “Our bright and cheery neighborhood grocery stores offer fresh, natural and organic foods and products at incredible prices – and in an approachable setting that feels like an old-fashioned farmers market.”

Other new locations are expected to open up in Georgia, North Carolina, California, Arizona and Kansas.

Sprouts’ entry into the Florida market may give grocery retailers such as Publix and Whole Foods a little competition. The Whole Foods in Northdale has been a popular, and rather busy, destination for shoppers since it opened its doors in late 2012.
