Full Job Description
Smith & Associates Real Estate is in search of a full-time staff accountant to join our St. Petersburg office. This position will report to the Accounting Manager. Understanding of basic accounting concepts will be key for this role. It is the goal of the company to develop this individual to execute the day-to-day accounting operations along with our accounting administrator.
Location: 1100 4th St N Ste. 102, St. Petersburg, FL 33701 (non-remote)
Hours: 8:30am – 5:30pm Monday through Friday
Salary: $48,000-$52,000
The ideal candidate will be responsible for timely and accurate preparation of financial accounting data in a variety of areas. It is essential that this candidate brings analytical and organizational skills in order to best support the accounting team.
Responsibilities
– Deposit checks for multiple entities and post revenue into related accounting software.
– Property Management Accounting
- Assist property managers in onboarding of new clients and ensure necessary documentation is received and retained
- Provide reports and answer financial related inquiries for tenants and property owners
- Execute the Accounts payable function for the ~150+ properties
- Calculate management fees, recognize revenue and remit draws to property owners
- Calculate property manager compensation and distribute funds timely
- Review new leases for compliance and set-up lease parameters within property management software.
- Execute all account reconciliations monthly ensuring monies held are accurately stated by property and purpose
- Process refunds of and claims against tenant deposits
– File and pay monthly sales tax and tourist tax returns
– Perform monthly bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations and generate monthly reports.
– Perform Fixed Assets and Inter-Company Accounting responsibilities
– Post Recurring and Closing Journal Entries
– Maintain Vendor File and relevant documentation such as W9 Forms, relevant contact and payment information.
– Perform light Treasury Management including Positive Pay, Bank Transfers between different entities and account, wire/ACH initiation Post bank activity recognizing in the related accounting software
– Monitor and respond to Check and Transfer requests for Title company processing through the bank and accounting software
– Perform accounts receivable function and provide required documentation for marketing service agreements
– Assist with all accounting work as it relates to in-house managed condo association.
Assist Manager and CFO with assigned projects
Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance with 0-1 years of experience in an accounting role
– Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) with intermediate level of Excel
– Able to work in a Team environment meeting the needs of many
– Maintains a positive attitude while working with a diverse group of people
– Displays excellent project management abilities
– Possesses exceptional verbal and written communication skills
– Adjusts to change smoothly and rapidly.
– Exhibits superior organizational skills and strategic planning abilities.
