The Staff Accountant will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations, performing general ledger reconciliations, managing accounts payable and receivable, and assisting with month-end and year-end closings. This position offers an excellent opportunity for growth and development in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily accounting tasks including general ledger entries, reconciliations, and analysis of financial transactions.
- Prepare and maintain financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Assist in the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and ensure proper accounting for capital expenditures.
- Support the preparation of tax returns, audits, and regulatory filings.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.
- Assist with special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments to support overall financial operations and objectives.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related field from a four-year institution. The bachelor’s degree is a minimum educational requirement for this position, and cannot be waived.
- Required Experience: 1-3 years of relevant accounting experience. Employee must be a US citizen.
- Preferred Experience: Public Accounting experience (Big 4) and experience within the government contracting industry is a bonus.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Good understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial accounting statements, and business trends.
- Adequate experience with accounting software packages and MS Office; Excel, Word, Access, etc.
- Ability to work with others in a positive and professional manner and to develop and maintain strong working relationships with co-workers and management.
- Ability to take initiative, including asking for and offering help when needed, performs work independently without being prompted.
- Proper oral and written communication with both financial and non-financial individuals.
- Exceptional organization skills and high attention to detail. Completes all administrative tasks in assigned times (required)
