The Student Living Coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of the Resident Life Programs at the student housing community. In addition, the Student Living Coordinator is responsible for the training, supervision and evaluation of the Resident Assistant positions assigned to the property.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS STATEMENT(S)

  • Responsible for scheduling staff meetings and in-service spring and fall training sessions with Resident Assistants.
  • Work collaboratively with the General Manager, Assistant General Manager and Leasing Manager to ensure that the goals of the property are met.
  • Oversee the use of campus resources to enhance the development of the staff, residents and community.
  • Ensure that Resident Assistants provide courteous, efficient handling of resident requests and complaints
  • Monitor residents’ contributions to and participation in educational recreational programs
  • Discuss and clarify on an on-going basis University and Student Living rules, regulations, policies and procedures with Resident Assistants.
  • Monitor outreach efforts of Resident Assistants to ensure that they become acquainted and build rapport with residents.
  • Ensure that programs and activities utilize the Community Development Model to maintain a commitment to the balanced growth of residents and the community.
  • Meet regularly with Resident Assistants to discuss program plans, goals, and evaluations.
  • Implement and assign special projects to Resident Assistants such as large-scale programs, outreach to special populations, newsletters or other initiatives as needed.
  • Train Resident Assistants to be referral agents for students desiring or needing professional assistance by informing and updating them on available campus resources.
  • Train and ensure that Resident Assistants follow all institutional and departmental guidelines regarding emergencies.
  • Work collaboratively with General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Leasing Manager, and Maintenance Supervisor to coordinate efforts during crisis.
  • Continually seek to ensure an environment that is safe for staff and residents.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information and property information as outlined by Company policy.
  • Oversee the development of programs that will broaden students’ educational experience.
  • Regularly conduct training sessions with Resident Assistants to develop and enhance conflict resolution skills and techniques.
  • Communicate both verbally and nonverbally an impartial attitude toward all persons regardless of race, culture, gender, or lifestyle.
  • Responsible for scheduling the Resident Assistants for effective handling of crises, conflict resolution, and duty situations at the community.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of application information required, screening process, lease terms, rental rate, sizes, locations, amenities of property, and all community policies related to community and competitive properties.
  • Assist General Manager, Assistant General Manager, and Leasing Manager with the overall marketing efforts of the property
  • Assure safety standards are used which comply with all Company guidelines.
  • Complete Training Guide, online LMS training and instructor led courses required for the position.
  • Maintain a professional, courteous manner with all residents, vendors, contractors and fellow employees.
  • Ensure compliance of all work related activities in fair, ethical and consistent manner.
  • Follow established Company policies and procedures.
  • Arrive to work as scheduled and prepared.
  • Any other tasks as assigned.
