Purpose of the Job

Maximize customer satisfaction and project performance for cost, time, and quality by coordinating, managing, analysing and reporting on Construction, Validation, Testing, and Acceptance for Alstom provided scope.

Organisational Reporting

Hieratical reporting to the Project Director/Manager.

  • Project Installation Performance (QCD + Subcontractor assessment + Process application + reporting timeliness/accuracy)
  • Customer satisfaction

Installation people performance – EHS, Skill assessment, RSA Railway Safety…

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Project Director, work with other project resources internal and external to develop a cost and time-effective solutions to Construction & VTA issues.
  • Support project sub-groups in ensuring all information is communicated to all site stakeholders, including interfaces with the Customer and their major subcontractors.
  • Prepare and issue project-critical items lists based on project critical path activities.
  • Develop the necessary work-around plans, by analysing deviations and re-planning as necessary, to resolve critical project issues in conjunction with functional departments to mitigate adverse effects on contract schedule and financial performance.
  • Analyse site project performance and report on Construction and VTA status as it pertains to Alstom.
  • Work with project team to assist in developing recovery plans to ensure Alstom can maintain invoicing and cash flow targets.
  • Support or lead in Construction & VTA decisions with the customer, recommending potential claims actions to Project Management when relevant.
  • Recommend improvements to Program Management policies, procedures, guidelines and directives, as applicable.
  • Motivate and influence others to adhere to the project schedule.
  • Ensure all predecessor requirements are met for handover to Alstom Construction & VTA phase.
  • Assist to develop and coordinate Construction & VTA work plans, access requests, and resources.
  • During VTA phase, assist effort by carrying & conducting testing activities where needed.
  • Help to ensure all Construction & VTA documentation is well organized and returned to project team for final sign-off.
  • Safety ambassador for the Alstom team. Co-lead any site safety initiatives appropriate for the team and ensure staff under their control perform their duties in a safe manner in accordance with Divisional procedures and statutory requirements.
  • Willing and able to work some weekends and shiftwork (nights) as necessary.
  • Position may require interstate travel.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical/Electronics studies or equivalent education and experience performing similar duties of at least 5 years
  • Understanding of customer needs and interface requirements and organization functions
  • Broad knowledge of Program Management Process, Planning/Scheduling and Administrative fundamentals
  • Experience with a dedicated or matrix project resource area
  • Strong proficiency in PC and computers systems
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a minimum amount of direction
  • Superior planning and organizational skills, coupled with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Experience working with civil and electrical contractors, and O&M staff
  • Familiar with relevant US and international industry Standards
