ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

The Office of University Communications and Marketing is the primary source for news and information about USF. The UCM team is responsible for producing and promoting university news, coordinating media relations, managing crisis communications, conceiving and implementing advertising and communications campaigns, producing university publications, and maintaining major university websites.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Web Content Administrator will serve as part of the Digital Team within University Communications and Marketing (UCM). This position will serve as direct point of contact and web support for high-level clients. Duties include responding to urgent support needs; training content management system (CMS) users; collaborating on CMS template design and functionality requests; advising on best digital practices in alignment with unit, brand, and university priorities; and managing website launches and reorganizations, including liaising with Information Technology partners and building websites as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

In accordance with UCM, works with departments/units across campus to define their web communications strategy, staying consistent with the overall strategy for the university. Evaluates usability and utilization of web pages, implementing planned improvements based on appropriate data. Performs CMS trainings for new users. Fields day-to-day support questions from identified units.

Participates in CMS and digital development projects. Collaborates on design and functionality of new and existing CMS templates; testing new CMS features; assisting CMS clients in implementing new features; researching and keeping abreast of trends in the digital space, with a focus on higher education websites; executing competitive analyses of peer institutions’ websites, as needed; and collaborating with Information Technology partners on university-wide digital projects.

Writes and edits information for designated university websites managed by UCM. Applies web standards and guidelines for style and content consistent with university policies and relevant regulatory requirements.

Represents UCM and the Digital team in cross-university digital communications working groups to support streamlined university-wide communications efforts; liaising with units to determine priorities in alignment with university strategic goals and brand guidelines; providing expertise and insight on digital content strategy; organizing and leading cross-unit teams to advance priorities; and communicating larger groups’ needs to web team and UCM stakeholders.

Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in communication, public relations, technical writing, digital media, information technology, or related field, with two years of experience in related positions; or a Master’s degree in the fields listed above. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

PREFERRED:

Experience with collaborating directly with executive-level stakeholders to manage digital content strategy across highly visible websites in a higher-ed environment, including developing and implementing web strategy.

SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING:

Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, content management systems, AP Style, SEO, and Google Analytics. Past experience with project management tools or systems.
