The Spring of Tampa Bay, Inc. is Florida’s second largest certified domestic violence shelter, and the first DV agency in the United States to have an accredited onsite school for resident children. Our services include an emergency residential center (102 beds), 24-hour DV crisis hotline, outreach services, prevention and education programs in middle and high schools, transitional housing and legal assistance. Since it’s founding in 1977, The Spring has provided sanctuary and services to more than 60,000 abused adults and their children. Weekend Cook (Sat/Sun, 10:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.)
Responsible for the service and cleaning of the kitchen. Ensures all food preparation, presentation and service meet The Spring’s commitment to excellence and quality. May create dishes or pick up food from Metropolitan Ministries. Works as part of a team. Creates lists of needed inventory, and follows daily/weekly routine of food rotation and cleaning. Responsible for set-up for breakfast the following day. Posts daily menu. Must be able to communicate effectively with other departments, residents, and community partners/agencies, and respond effectively to changing demands (e.g., special diet needs, food available). Above all, must have a friendly demeanor and be committed to serving women and families in our shelter with warmth and a smile. If interested, there is an opportunity for additional hours (Monday – Friday) when another team member is on vacation, or during holidays.
Requires a high school diploma, GED, or culinary arts certification plus 1 year relevant experience. ServSafe certification required with a score of 88 or higher (we will provide this training). Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products required. Must be able to physically stand and move for 8 hour shifts and be able to properly operate potentially hazardous equipment. Requires the lifting of boxes and warehouse items (20 – 50 lbs). FBI Level II background check and drug screen required.
Wage: $ 12.00 per hour plus 12 hours vacation per year after 12 months of employment. Opportunity to work additional hours on holidays and vacations.
